Use of NCA’s website, Listservs, social media platforms, or other current or future digital assets owned, controlled, or administered by NCA should be conducted in accordance with all applicable laws and the principles of free and ethical communication that have long been a hallmark of the Communication discipline.

To that end, NCA urges and expects all visitors and users to review the Association’s Credo for Ethical Communication and Credo for Free and Responsible Use of Electronic Communication Networks and act in accordance with the following:

  • Display respect for the myriad demographic and psychographic dimensions encountered in others.
  • Advocate truthfulness, accuracy, honesty, and reason as essential to the integrity of communication.
  • Endorse freedom of expression, diversity of perspective, and tolerance of dissent to achieve the informed and responsible decision-making that is fundamental to civil society.
  • Strive to understand and respect other communicators before evaluating and responding to their messages.
  • Condemn communication that degrades individuals and humanity through distortion, intimidation, coercion, and violence and through the expression of intolerance and hatred.
  • Advocate sharing information, opinions, and feelings when facing significant choices while also respecting privacy and confidentiality.
  • Accept responsibility for the short- and long-term consequences of your own communication and expect the same of others.
  • Follow all applicable federal, state, and local laws when using NCA’s website.

As needed, NCA may seek to ensure adherence to these Terms of Use. Ad hominem attacks delivered on NCA’s social media properties are subject to removal.
