Sponsored by the Waterhouse Family Institute for the Study of Communication and Society, this program builds on NCA's commitment to civic engagement and issues of social justice. Specifically, panelists discussed issues affecting the local indigenous communities, including the area's Native American nations. These issues include environmental justice and indigenous rights, especially in the wake of deep cuts to the boundaries of Utah's Bears Ears National Monument and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Panelists include scholars of environmental rhetoric, Native American rhetoric, and practitioners involved in with protecting and preserving indigenous cultures.
