CIDD Virtual Japan Tour

The 2021 CIDD Virtual Japan Tour, coordinated by NCA’s Committee for International Discussion and Debate (CIDD) and the Japan Debate Association (JDA), will take place during June 2021. The two debaters representing the United States on tour are Emma Reilly and John Huebler. Debate formats include Policy, All Japan High School English Debate Association (HEnDA), and Parliamentary. Reilly and Huebler are coached by CIDD committee members Ruth Beerman (Randolph-Macon College), John Koch (Vanderbilt University), and Kenneth Newby (Morehouse College). A lecture on leadership and organizational behavior will be delivered by CIDD Program Coordinator Brianne DiPasquantonio (Aurora University).

Emma Reilly  

Reilly
Emma Reilly is a Junior at Randolph-Macon College and the President of the Franklin Debating Society. Reilly is a double major in Political Science and Communication Studies, with a minor in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies, and hopes to be a Campaign Manager or a Communications Director for politicians in the future. Reilly enjoys working on political campaigns and reading.

John Huebler 

Heubler
After qualifying nationally in Lincoln-Douglas and Congressional Debate in high school, Huebler made the transition to policy debate at the University of Mary Washington. Huebler is a three-time Cross Examination Debate Association Academic All-American, the American Debate Association (ADA) JV Debater of the year, and a 2019 finalist for the ADA Julia Burke Award. Huebler graduated Summa Cum Laude with honors in both political science and philosophy, and currently works as an associate at a political fundraising firm.
