NCA’s 2022 spring public program, “Creating Space for All: Communicating about Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access in Our Classrooms and on Our Campuses,” was held virtually on April 25. More than 50 people attended the program. In case you missed it, a recording of the program is now available on NCA’s YouTube channel.
The program explored best practices for communicating about and advancing inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA) in the classroom and across campus. Panelists included James L. “Jim” Cherney (University of Nevada, Reno), NCA 2nd Vice President Marnel Niles Goins (Marymount University), Melissa R. Meade (Villanova University), and Elizabeth S. Parks (Colorado Mountain College Leadville). Panelists addressed the importance of attending to topics and issues related to IDEA in all courses, offered advice for participants looking to advocate for inclusivity and accessibility on their campuses, weighed in on the necessity of creating an environment that’s welcoming for all faculty members, and more.
