New Episode of Communication Matters: The NCA Podcast

NCA's newly launched podcast, Communication Matters, features episodes on topics of relevance to Communication scholars, teachers, and practitioners. The newest episode shares highlights from NCA’s 105th Annual Convention in Baltimore. You’ll hear from attendees about their experiences at the convention as well as excerpts from the Opening Session, Lisa Flores’ Carroll C. Arnold Lecture, and Star Muir’s Presidential Address. New Communication Matters episodes will be released every other week. Here are a few previews:
- January 23, 2020: Mary Beth Tinker, a petitioner in Tinker v. Des Moines, the landmark case that affirmed the free speech rights of children in schools, and Steve Smith, a Freedom of Expression scholar and Professor Emeritus of Communication at the University of Arkansas, discuss Tinker v. Des Moines and student activism today.
- February 6, 2020: Joëlle M. Cruz, who received the inaugural Orlando L. Taylor Distinguished Scholarship Award in Africana Communication and is an Assistant Professor in the College of Media, Communication, and Information at the University of Colorado, Boulder, will discuss research in the area of “alternative organizing.” Former NCA President Orlando Taylor, Distinguished Senior Advisor to the President at Fielding Graduate University, will offer thoughts on the importance of access and equity in higher education.
